Props to Attorney General Eric Holder for renewing the investigation into the assassination of US Attorney Thomas Wales, ten years ago now.
Wales, a tenured, liberal, community connected white collar prosecutor was killed in his basement office only weeks after the Al Qaida attack on the World Trade Center - and within weeks of the nomination of John McKay to fill his bosses chair by George W. Bush.
I do have to wonder though if the reason that the investigation has not been successful is that the perpetrator is closer to the DOJ than they'd care to admit possible. As a white collar corporate prosecutor Wales stood against everything, locally, that the G.W. Bush administration would come to nationally, and historically, represent.
John McKay, fired by G.W. Bush, is not a suspect. But we can be relatively assured that the perpetrator was a member of the corporate club in Western Washington, usually perceived as being squeaky clean. John is squeaky clean and is proving, under adversity, to be a pretty decent guy, supporting marijuana legalization, for one.
Perhaps most prominent among the defenders of white collar corporate criminals in Seattle is Mike McKay, John's older brother. Mike, US Attorney for Western Washington under George Herbert Walker Bush, is not such a decent guy - most notably being senior partner to an upcoming Mark 'Satan' Sidran.
Such is speculation, but we can be most assured that the business world of Seattle is not nearly so squeaky clean as their PR would indicate.
Curious too how Obama's DOJ has not yet reversed its policy on marijuana legalization, most likely not the only corrupt legacy of the Bush years that this organization has failed to stop, or correct.
