The Obama administration's decision to boycott the U.S. Conference of Mayors conference in support of a union dispute appears to be from top to bottom, according to the host city's major paper.
This includes HUD deputy secretary Ron Sims, who himself negotiated with Unions during his tenure as county executive of Washington State's largest urban county.
This sends a bad message at a bad time - support for unions on one hand is a good thing - doing so at the expense of the entire urban agenda is another. It is a sad fact that in the current economy everyone will make less money and their property is also worth less.
Obama is spending the political capital of his PC reputation not to benefit disadvantaged urban citizens but to in fact create a conspiracy with the Unions to hold them in their place.
The success of the Civilian Conservation Corps during the depression wasn't based on paying Union scale to a select few it was engaging in **productive** endeavors that employed **everyone**.
Two big thumbs down on this one, and further evidence that the core problems that created this current situation are still here and worsening - in spite of any temporary upturn that may well be in the future over the next year or so.
