The respected Seattle online site Crosscut has a piece attacking the current Bellevue preferred Sound Transit light rail option. The points are good, though I would like to see a current feasibility study on moving sidewalks. However there is a bigger point, perhaps it is premature to be building light rail to the Eastside at all? After all, the current Bellevue City Council was elected on a platform that is critical of the project.
Realistically, I see two better alternatives - work out the costs and engineering for the I-90 light rail conversion and build a segment that removes the need for commuter hour buses to cross the Lake OR build the desirable Bellevue Tunnel starting off with bus only service, just like in Downtown Seattle.
